It’s impossible to overstate the importance — and impact — of a great guide. There are plenty of practical tasks a guide must excel at: navigation, translation, managing meals and hotel check-ins and fuel stops and the occasional roadside repair and so much more. But that’s the easy stuff. What really sets a great guide apart is the emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills required to manage a diverse group undertaking an epic adventure. Calm, clever and charismatic in equal parts, our guides embody that impossible-to-describe X-factor that makes real magic happen, consistently elevating a good time to a great adventure and sending you home with dozens of stories worth sharing.

Around the Go!Adventure offices, Raul Kautela Arciniegas — Lobo to his friends — is better known as “The (Other) Most Interesting Man in the World.” A part-time marine biologist, open-ocean sailor, deep-sea diver and enthusiastic motorcyclist who has guided professionally everywhere from Hanoi to the Himalayas, Lobo is most passionate about his beloved home country of Colombia. Lobo tells us he’s an “expert in innovation and strategic planning.” What that means in the saddle is that he is exceptionally gifted at creating unexpected and unforgettable experiences seemingly out of nowhere with people that he just meets along the side of the road, delighting them with his unstoppable charm.

“When you come to Colombia,” Tuto says, “the biggest risk is that you'll never want to leave!” Tuto, who also responds to his government name Carlos Arturo Barreto Jaramillo, should know — he’s had the pleasure of guiding motorcycle tours all around the world and he still loves riding around his home country the best! A passionate motorcyclist since he was disguising his bicycle as a motorcycle as a child, Tuto says he’s at his best anytime there is fresh air moving though his helmet vents. He loves nothing more than immersing adventurous motorcyclists in the magnificent beauty of Colombia, especially the warmth of its people, the traditions of its towns, and the inexhaustible beauty of its mountains, forests and desert plains.
